In The Studio This Week

I worked more in my studio this week than I have worked in months!

It was a good week 🙂

I almost always paint while listening to a podcast or music, and I start out sitting down but end up standing.

I have no idea why that is.

Maybe I can move my arm more freely while standing?

Who knows?

I feel like I am still working on finding my own style.

I don’t know if I will ever feel like I’ve accomplished that completely,

but I can see that most everything that I paint these days has some similar (unplanned) characteristics.

I’ve been painting and just trying to “be myself” with my most recent work.

Take a look at these….

The first thing I notice is how much black and white I use.

Those colors are always out on my table while I am painting anything!

I also see colors peeking out behind other colors in the background and I love seeing that little element in my paintings.

There’s something about that rustic, antique, chippy paint look that I really like.

Blue and pink are other colors that I seem to be drawn to.

They usually show up somewhere…even on my farm animals.

Like this one 🙂

Then there are the floral elements, the doilies, and the butterflies.

Those things pop up in most of my mixed media paintings, too.

Have you noticed any of these things?

What similarities do you find in my paintings?

I’d love to hear what you see!

I do always put a little blue. I guess I like that color a lot 🙂
