I’m so happy to be back in my studio working. I am still trying to get the lighting and set up just right in this new room, but I did record a little snippet of me painting this piece while I was sipping my coffee.
It’s always interesting for me to watch one of my own recordings after the fact. It’s like I can’t really see what I am doing while I am doing it, but when I go back and watch it I think….Oh cool! I didn’t realize I used my knife that way or I didn’t know that I turn the canvas upside down so much when I am painting. Hahaha!
I didn’t record the process of this one all the way to the end, and I added quite a bit more after the video stopped. Things like: a burlap bow, the customer’s initials, and their wedding anniversary date were added per the customer’s request after we discussed what she’d like added. Here’s a photo of the finished piece.
This piece was a custom order, and I really enjoyed creating it! It represents memories of her wedding day. I was just thinking about how, at one point in time, I had thought that I would stop taking orders for specific pieces. I’m so glad I didn’t make that decision. These are the things that bring me the most joy and satisfaction as an artist. Creating something for someone that is beautiful, personal, and meaningful is what I love to do! I like to work directly with my customers and discuss what they have in mind.
