Buffet Makeover

I was recently scrolling through my Pinterest boards and got inspired to paint this buffet table that we have had for years. It was being stored in the barn and had been quite neglected. This buffet needed a makeover. Here’s how yucky it looked when we pulled it out of the barn.

I jumped back on Pinterest and searched for ways to remove mold and mildew from wood furniture. I got my cleaning supplies out and got to work. I was videoing and sharing on my Facebook page as I went. Here’s a little clip about how much better it is looking after a good cleaning.

I knew I wanted to paint it a light color and allow the dark details to show up. At first I thought I’d paint it all white and then go back with some dark wax to make those details pop….but then I had an idea.

It turned out to be a very good idea!!

After I painted the entire piece with that one little piece of a sponge, I took a piece of sand paper and went over some of the edges and areas that were raised….like this photo below. That little bit of sanding REALLY pulled out the details of this beautiful piece of furniture even more!

It turned out so much better and easier than I had planned. This technique is soooooo easy, y’all! Anyone can do it! I promise 🙂

Even Gimli the cat likes it 🙂
