This chair has been with us for many, many years! I think I bought it at Pier One about 9 years ago.
It’s comfy, but it’s so dark and gloomy, so I decided to give it a makeover.
Here’s my supply list:
Americana Décor Chalky Finish Paint in Primitive
Americana Décor Crème Wax in Clear and Golden Brown
Medium Chip Brush
First of all, to get the weathered and antique look that I wanted, I dry brushed the whole chair.
It only takes a tiny bit of paint on your chip brush to do this.
Take a look at this little video demonstration to see what I mean.
I continued to do this same technique over the entire chair with the chalky finish paint, and got this look (which I love!!)
Then….I took the golden brown crème wax and lightly brushed it over the dry paint and wiped over it immediately with a clean cloth.
It gave me an even more weathered look which I really, really love! 🙂
After I antiqued the whole chair with the brown wax, I added a layer of clear wax to seal the deal.
Here’s the old gloomy chair after it’s bright and happy makeover. I love how it turned out!
This project was super easy to do. You could easily do this same technique on baskets, too!
Have you painted any of your furniture with chalky paint?
I love it because there is no prep work at all!
You just grab the paint and go for it!
If you would like to update and brighten up some pieces in your house,
I highly recommend Americana Décor Paints! They are really great!
