Grounded…my word of the year for 2019

Reflections on the past year and hopes for the future are on everyone’s mind right now. My mind is fixed on intentional living, purposeful choices, and working hard at finding a sense of grounded peace in every area of my life for 2019. Grounded is my word of the year for 2019.

I’m so determined to slow down and be grounded in my faith, my business decisions, my home and family time, my personal time, and each painting that I create.

This word became clear to me at the end of 2018. For several years I have noticed a pattern when I begin to feel overwhelmed by life. Suddenly I feel this weird urge to go outside and sit or lay on the ground. I picture myself in a huge empty field where I can just sit and stare. Often I dream about grass and sand or open landscapes. (I know that sounds really weird but it’s true.)

It’s like a need for stability. Clear thinking. Uncluttered living. Less noise and more peace. It turns out that “grounding” is actually a thing. You can Google it! Don’t ask me how it works or what it means because I have not studied that much into it yet. However, I know that God created us and all of our surroundings to work perfectly together. Who knew that my love of barefoot walks on the beach or in the grass was really healing and so helpful?

What about you? Do you have a word of the year?

Peace….thankful. 2018 was a tough year. I want 2019 to be purposeful. To be a year of hope. I want to live in the moment and enjoy each day God gives me.
