Hi there!
I am so excited that you are here for this
little bluebird art lesson!
I know you are going to have so much fun creating this little pumpkin. This kind of art is called mixed media art. That just means it’s created with more things than paint. It’s a mixture of different things like: paper, paint, and glue.
Let’s start with the supplies you will need…..
Supply List
I buy most of my supplies at Michael’s Craft Store. Michael’s always has some really great online coupons, too! Just Google Michael’s coupon to look for the most recent deals. However, you don’t have to go to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby to find these things. Almost all of these supplies can be found at Walmart or around your house. For example: you can substitute newspaper or construction paper for the scrapbook paper if you can’t find that locally.
I also have affiliate links in the supply list below where you may order these items via Amazon.com and have them delivered to your home.
Here’s what you need to gather:
- Canvas
I used an 8×10 wrapped canvas in this video, but a canvas board can be used also.

2. Mod Podge
I use the matte version of Mod Podge in this video.

3. Acrylic Paint
I am not picky about paint. Any brand will do. I use some of everything. For this you need brown and green.
Order online: Assorted Paints
4. Assorted paint brushes
I use a small brush and my fingers in this video. Any small brush will work!
Order online: Assorted Brushes
5. Scrapbook papers or newspaper
This will be your main background and your pumpkin.
Order online: Scrapbook Paper 1, Scrapbook Paper 2
Let’s Begin!
This video is the heart of the art lesson. This is where we will work together, and I will show you, step by step, how to create this project. Take your time and have fun. You may want to pause the video in some places if I am working faster than you would like to work. When you finish this video, you will have a completed work of art that you created with your own hands!
Yay!! You did it! I am so proud of you for completing this lesson and making your very own little pumpkin! Do you know what this means?
You are an artist!! 🙂
I’d love to see what you did to make yours special! If you would like to take a photo of your little pumpkin and email it to me, I’d love that! My email address is: [email protected]
