The rich brown backgrounds in my most recent paintings may have you wondering what paint I use. Painting is one of the few things that I know a lot about and can talk about for days- so let’s! Does it really matter what brand? The short answer: yes, but not as much as other factors like color choice or technique. Let me explain…. In painting there are two basic types of medium used for creative projects; water soluble (like acrylic) and oil based paints. Most artists will start with an inexpensive set from a craft store because they come ready mixed together which saves time. However, the craft style, acrylic paints just don’t give you the high pigment load of a professional quality paint. There is a really big difference.
