Souls

Souls

It has been a while since I tried something brave and bold. It has really been a while since I just painted without worrying about all the technicalities that I have learned from too many YouTube videos and artist blogs that I thought were helping me 🙂 I have really been enjoying creating these new pieces that I am calling “Souls”.

Those of you who follow me on Facebook have seen these new paintings and this post explaining their meaning, but I wanted to share with those who have not.

My post on Facebook: “This is an experimental piece for me (since I don’t normally do abstract work), but it is not just a random painting. It has a special meaning that I’d like to explain…. One day several months ago, my husband and I were having a discussion about spiritual matters. I mentioned that if we could put on special glasses that would only reveal things that are eternal, we would not see things like skin color or houses or cars or home decor. We would not see money or education or social status. We would see souls. This painting represents that thought.”

Since sharing the first painting (shown below) I have been pleasantly surprised by the encouraging comments from others.

Souls

I got such a great response that I excitedly began another piece in a different color scheme and recorded my process. Here are the videos of me working on the second canvas.

This is the finished piece in turquoise, yellow, and brown.

Souls

Of all the things that I have painted in the past, I think these are the most personal pieces I have done. They are not a “take” on another artist’s work. They truly reflect me, my creativity, my style, my heart, and (as cheesy as it may sound) my soul. I have always enjoyed painting but this time, this work is different. It has more meaning and it is completely mine. I feel that these are the most original pieces I Soulshave done and I will continue to paint more like this even if I never sell one because I love doing it. I hope you like these new pieces. I am offering them both for sale and I am also taking custom orders for them. If you are interested, please contact me at: [email protected] for more information.

    Good Morning Amanda!
I don’t know how, but I missed your first “Souls” painting! But I watched your videos of your second “Souls” and was intrigued as I watched the development –not sure of where it was going. I am not a “fan” of modern/ abstract art?As you know, I love art that is realistic— roses, pumpkins, teacups— words! I love words-Scripture. But,these paintings intrigue me– make me think of the souls that I know are in Heaven waiting for me.I have three grandchildren there, who passed from birth into the arms of Jesus. Jeremiah, Hope(who was the twin of Faith),and Baby Jackson( an early miscarriage/gender unknown). I would love a painting that depicted these sweet babies! Possibly including my mother and sister.Ilook forward to hearing from you.
    Hug to you! Trudy
