You are what makes your work unique and special. You are the secret ingredient that will propel your art to a new level if you take the time to question your heart and find ways to infuse that individuality into your paintings.

Think and ideate on these things…

• What kinds of textures do I like?
• What colors speak to me?
• What kind of shapes do I like best?
• What subjects do I gravitate towards?
• What is in my past that I can add to my paintings?
• How can I let my feelings shine in my work? (this will give your work life!)
• Why am I creating art? (this helps you to create a sense of purpose in your work and it will help you when you fall into the comparison trap)
• What is inside me that I can let come through in my creative process?

When you have a good grasp on your identity as an artist your work will only get better and better.
