Inspiration or Envy?

Something has been bothering me lately after I read a post on Facebook written by a well-meaning person. She talked about how she believed Pinterest and the blog world are making women become discontent, envious, and covetous. While I understand what could happen when we browse the beautiful photos on-line, I have to disagree.
I share ideas from Pinterest all the time on my Facebook page, so I want to make sure that everyone understands why I think it’s a good thing! Most of the things that I see people pinning or blogging about are very helpful! I find inspiration and ideas that make me a better homemaker! I see things like money saving tips, recipes, DIY projects that save my family money, ways to make our home a more comfortable haven, and so many other great ideas! Sure you could get on the internet, look at photos of bigger and better things than what you have and become ungrateful! But that can also happen by looking at a magazine, driving by a bigger house than the one you own, or just going to the mall! It’s really all about your intent and the condition of your heart.
I am very thankful for everything the God has blessed with. I don’t ever want to give the impression that I am not! However, I also want to be busy doing good things for my family! That’s my God-given role and I take it seriously! I am a homemaker, and I want to do my best at taking care of the ones that I love.
A scented candle, a comfy chair, a nice organized closet, a well stocked bookshelf, a wholesome meal, a warm kitchen, a few flowers in a pot on the porch, a bird feeder, a soft and fresh bath towel, a cozy fireplace……all of these things can make your home a happy place, and it takes work to keep it up and come up with fresh ideas. The ideas on the internet often give me a little push to keep going, keep working, and keep making our home a better place to be. I hope you find inspiration and not envy online, too
