Leaves, Mt. Rainier Ansel Adams |
You might not think of this as art, but it is! Photography is a form of art, and Ansel Adams’ photographs are some of my very favorites! It just so happened ( I didn’t plan this…) that we did a little study about John Muir ( who was quite a…ummm…..unique person, btw) at the beginning of the year and it made our study of Ansel Adams that much more interesting. They were both very passionate about our national parks and expressed that love in their art.
“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art.”
Ansel Adams
We’ve been studying him for a couple of weeks now, and I thought I’d share some resources that we have used.

Found this book at Goodwill and we’ve been browsing through it:
After doing some internet browsing, we used the kids’ iPods to take black and white photos of some things to see how different they look in grey scale rather than color. They had fun with it. It’s so very easy to do a study like this and my kids really gain a lot from it. Just look some things up online and at the library, and enjoy learning something new with no stress attached!
