Transform Your Brick For Less Than $10

Transform Your Brick

We have a wall in our sun room that used to be an exterior wall of our house. It was dark and a little ugly (in my opinion) so I decided to transform the brick and give the room a little make over. It was so easy to do and didn’t cost much money at all. Here’s my little tutorial for you to use if you want to transform your brick for less than $10!This is a picture of the wall before. The first thing I did was move the furniture from the wall and wipe it down with a dry towel to remove any dust bunnies.

Then the fun began!

All you need is some chalk type paint and a car wash sponge. Seriously…that is all! I got these items at Wal-Mart and paid less than $10! This one little bottle goes a LONG way!

I poured the paint on a paper plate and tore off a piece of the sponge to use. I just started dipping the edge of the sponge in the paint and swiping it on like this.

Just hit the high points and try not to get it on the grout. Swipe across each brick with your sponge. It is that simple 🙂 Really!

I started up at the top and worked my way down in sections. It took a few hours, but boy did it make a huge difference! Just look!

The whole room is amazingly brighter and it looks cleaner to me. I like clean, organized, and pretty. Those are my favorites. 🙂
Another little tip….I didn’t cover up all of the bricks. I just randomly swiped and left some little pieces of the brick exposed. I really like the way that looks.

So like I said before, this is a very easy and inexpensive way to update a wall, a fireplace, or any brick area in your home and make a huge impact for very little effort and money 🙂

I also did this same technique on the brick in our kitchen. You can see that here: Our Kitchen Update: DIY On A Budget

We like it so much that we are contemplating doing this on the exterior of our house using exterior brick paint. I’ll let you know if and when that happens 🙂
I hope this is helpful to you and that you can use some of my ideas to make your home a little bit warmer, cozier, and happier.

Blessings to you,
