We started something new at our house tonight that I am very excited about and plan to share with you as often as possible! I’m going to call it Links and Lights here on the blog.
For several years I’ve watched my husband highlight and link passages of Scripture in his Bible. I asked him if we could all sit down and do some topical linking together as a family. We gave it a try,Β and it was really great!
Our topic was taken from Romans 16:19.
…I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
(Rom 16:19)
We highlighted this verse in our Bibles and then began turning to other passages with the same meaning. We highlighted them and wrote the references for all of the others beside each one. Here are our Links and Lights!
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. (Jer 4:22)
Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. (Jer 10:2)
Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
(1Cor 14:20)Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Php 4:8)
We discussed how these verses apply to us today and how God wants us to be “smart about good things and dumb about evil”, as one of my children narrated. π What a great lesson for all of us to contemplate!
I hope this is helpful to others and that some of you will join in with us!
