Our Kitchen Update: DIY On A Budget

Our Kitchen Update On A Budget

We finally got everything boxed up and moved to Florida!

Moving is so much work, and the house that we bought needed (still needs) work, so I have taken a long break from my art.

We are slowly, but surely, getting settled, and I am getting things all fixed up 🙂 I am funneling all of my creative energy into our home right now and that’s okay! I hope to begin painting for others again soon, but for now, this is what is needed.

I thought I’d share a few before and after photos with ya, so that I don’t feel like I have lost ALL contact with you all!

Since the kitchen was what I felt needed the most help, I decided to clean and paint there first. Here are a few photos….

I started out by painting the bricks with chalk paint. What a difference that made!!

Then I started playing around with ideas for covering up that dreadful chicken backsplash! LOL!I painted and stenciled over it and here’s the end result!

Then I started painting the cabinets 🙂

I decided to do the uppers white and lowers black.

I am really happy with how it all turned out. It took so much work, but it was soooo worth it!

So this is what I have been doing for the past month or so, and….will continue to be doing for a while. It’s hard work, but I love it. We are so blessed to be here in this new (to us) house, and I am enjoying using my creativity to make it our home.

Thankful and blessed, that’s what our family is!

Hope your new year has started off well. I will continue to share updates on our home as I have the time and ability, AND I DO have some plans for paintings…..coming very soon 🙂

I also remodeled the light fixture in the breakfast area. Here’s a link to check out that project:

I am so excited for you guys and yes it is hard work but you will enjoy it even more because you have done the work yourself. At times it will seem as though it is never ending (and it is!) but our homes always need updating to enjoy it and keep us busy. You have done a FANTASTIC JOB! well done. Can’t wait to see more.

We lived in the Panhandle for a few years and loved it.
Good luck with all you are trying to do. It will be worth it!
