This Week’s Featured Friend: Little Acorns

I’d love to share with you all a precious friend and her equally precious dolls! Heather (the creative mom behind Little Acorns) has been blessed with some unbelievable talent! Her business is growing, and her work is phenomenal!
I asked her to tell us a little about her business and here’s what she wrote:

Little Acorns was (I guess) born one Saturday morning while I was looking on Pinterest with my then 4 year old daughter.  That is always dangerous and has resulted in her changing her birthday plans 2 days before her party.  Anyway, we started looking at Waldorf dolls and she fell in love with them.  I was smitten by their sweet faces and wholesomeness.  She asked me to make her one.  I’ve been sewing for years but didn’t know if I dared to make a doll.  So, I started researching (Pinterest, that dangerous wonderful resource).  I ordered the supplies and tackled that first doll.  I was hooked.  I also knew that one little girl did not need all the dolls I wanted to make.  Amanda and my dear husband, Jay, encouraged me to “hang out my shingle”.
Now that I’ve made several dollies, I’m still learning and, I hope, improving.  My sweet little 5 year old is still involved.  Every single doll gets instructions from her on manners before they go to their new home.  She sits them down and whispers the importance of  “thank you, please, yes ma’am, and no ma’am”.  My oldest daughter often helps me with design decisions.
All my dolls are made with quality materials.  They are stuffed with 100% clean carded wool from sheep raised in the USA.  Their hair is mohair and wool yarn which is often hand-dyed by artisans.  I hand embroider each little face and make their clothing, too.
Each doll is a one of kind treasure that I hope will get tons of love from their “mommies”.
